The Sukanen Ship Pioneer Village and Museum is gearing up to host its third annual outdoor flea market, beckoning bargain hunters to explore a myriad of treasures on Sunday, June 29. Situated 13 kilometers south of Moose Jaw on Highway 2, the event promises a diverse array of offerings.
Evan Davis, one of the organizers, expressed optimism about the upcoming market, noting the increasing vendor participation in previous years. With over 70 vendors last year, the expectation for this year is to surpass that number, aiming for a bustling marketplace with a variety of goods.
Vendors interested in showcasing their wares can secure a 20-foot wide space for a nominal fee, allowing them to display their items on museum tables, personal tables, or even directly from their vehicles. The market, scheduled from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., will be facilitated by people movers shuttling visitors from the entrance to the vendor sites.
Anticipate a diverse range of offerings at the flea market, including garage sale items, antiques, collectibles, used car parts, and memorabilia. Additionally, the museum itself will have tables selling various items, enhancing the shopping experience for attendees.
One highlight of the event is the presence of a prominent collector from Moose Jaw, looking to downsize his extensive collection that dates back to his childhood. Visitors not only gain access to the flea market but also enjoy admission to the entire museum, with all pioneer village buildings open for exploration.
For those seeking refreshments, a full concession operated by the museum will be available, although it is advisable to carry sufficient cash as most vendors and the concession operate on a cash-only basis. This setup ensures a seamless shopping experience for attendees.
As the event approaches, excitement is palpable among both organizers and potential visitors, signaling a vibrant marketplace where individuals can indulge in bargain hunting, exploration of historical artifacts, and a day of community engagement. The fusion of commerce, history, and entertainment promises an enriching experience for all who attend the outdoor flea market at the Sukanen Ship Pioneer Village and Museum.
