Poplar Bluff residents are gearing up for a charitable weekend event as Country Pickins’ flea market prepares to host the Help Feed the Community Car Show on Saturday. The event aims to support the SEMO Area Food Bank, with all proceeds dedicated to this cause.
Emphasizing their commitment to community welfare, Country Pickins’ store manager, Christina VanLear, expressed the market’s dedication to making a positive impact beyond business transactions. The car show, running from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., invites car enthusiasts and altruistic individuals to contribute to the food bank’s mission.
Vehicle owners can participate by paying an entry fee of $15, with every cent raised channeled towards funding food deliveries to local families in need. The goal is to cover the costs of food truck deliveries, each valued at $750, to ensure sustenance for 200 families residing in various communities.
Besides the noble cause, attendees can look forward to live music, diverse vendors, and a competitive spirit as trophies await the top three vehicles. The event promises an inclusive atmosphere, welcoming all types of vehicles while also catering to the younger audience with a surprise guest appearance.
Reflecting on past community initiatives, VanLear highlighted the heartwarming collaboration among vendors during previous food distributions. The collective effort demonstrated a shared commitment to supporting local communities and alleviating hardships faced by families.
