The Nashville Flea Market is set to unveil its new location at the Fairgrounds in September. The transition involves relocating to three new buildings and several open-air sheds within Fairgrounds Nashville, marking a significant shift from its former site where it resided for five decades.
The new Expo Center, costing $37.5 million, boasts three interconnected air-conditioned buildings spanning a total of 130,000 square feet. Additionally, the space includes two large sheds, a show arena for numerous vendors, and outdoor booth spaces under canopies. Vendors can also utilize designated areas around the property to set up their own tents.
Despite these changes, the core flea market experience remains intact. Admission remains free, the number of vendors is consistent, and the range of merchandise mirrors what attendees have come to expect.
The September market is scheduled for the 27th to the 29th, with varying hours each day. The Expo Center sits on the east side of Fairgrounds Nashville, easily accessible from Wedgewood Avenue and Bransford/Benton Avenue. While admission is free, parking is available for $5.
The parking arrangements have been a key consideration in the relocation process. Parking attendants will guide visitors to available spaces, including traditional lots and a field at Fair Park, offering a total of 3,500 parking spots along with shuttle services from other lots.
Market officials anticipate around 500 vendors and 1,300 booths at the September market, maintaining a similar vendor count compared to previous years. Reaction to the move has been positive, with a notable waiting list of vendors eager to participate.
The Expo Center brings new amenities for both vendors and customers. Vendors benefit from improved loading facilities, including roll-up doors and designated loading areas. Customers can expect enhanced facilities, such as cleaner restrooms, efficient air conditioning, diverse food options, and streamlined item pickup.
The Nashville Flea Market, established in 1969, is recognized as one of the top ten flea markets in the United States by “Flea Market Insiders.” With monthly participation from dealers and vendors across 30 states, the market offers a wide array of items ranging from antiques and clothing to jewelry and specialty foods.
