The American Airpower Museum, known as Long Island’s sole flying military aviation museum, is gearing up for its inaugural Annual Flight Line Flea Market. Scheduled for Saturday, September 21, from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., the event will take place at Republic Airport’s Hangar 3 on 1230 New Highway in Farmingdale. This unique flea market concept will see the flight line transformed into a vibrant marketplace featuring a diverse array of vendors offering vintage antiques, books, collectibles, clothing, toys, and more.
Visitors can look forward to immersing themselves in a shopping experience set against the backdrop of the museum’s historic hangar and aircraft. The ambiance will be further enhanced by classic period music playing throughout the hangar. Food and drink options will be readily available for purchase, including delectable hot dogs, potato knishes, and refreshing soda served hot from a local food truck stationed outside Hangar 3.
Those interested in exploring the Flea Market can gain access with the museum’s standard daily admission fee. This ticket not only grants entry to the market but also provides an opportunity to explore the museum’s impressive collection of legendary aircraft, both operational and static. Among the aircraft on display are iconic planes like the North American B-25 Mitchell Bomber, Douglas C-47 Skytrain, Grumman TBM-3E Avenger, Republic F-105D Thunderchief, and Fairchild/Republic A-10A “Warthog”. Additionally, visitors can opt to purchase a ride in one of the museum’s North American T-6 Texans or enjoy an open-cockpit experience in the popular Red WACO Biplane.
Admission fees for the event are set at $15 for adults, $12 for seniors and veterans, and $10 for children. Members of the American Airpower Museum, as well as active military personnel, are granted free entry upon presenting valid identification. For further details and inquiries, interested individuals can contact the museum directly by calling (631) 293-6398.
