Scott Antique Market in Atlanta, Georgia kicked off its September market with a bang, despite a minor setback due to a lightning strike affecting the air-conditioning in one of the large buildings. The heat wave on Thursday did not deter shoppers, who returned in full force on Friday. Len Harmon Antiques from Vilas, N.C., and Jerry Stinnett of Status Symbol Antiques from Lynchburg, Va., were among the many dealers who reported successful sales and a positive response from buyers.
Local dealers like Jane Kundra and Antoinette Jordan showcased their collections of Eighteenth and Nineteenth Century items, while Electric Art of Thomasville, N.C., brought a unique touch with decorative lighting. Jeffrey Butler from Charlotte, N.C., experienced good sales on traditional furniture and art pieces.
In the North Building, The Lamp Shoppe featured English stoneware water filters converted into table lamps, a popular choice among buyers. A List Antiques from Santa Rosa Beach, Fla., highlighted antique-looking furniture, while Kemp Hickey from Atlanta focused on Midcentury Modern pieces.
Other dealers like Thomas Hoke from Salisbury, N.C., and Sharon Green Antiques from Sharon, Conn., offered period antiques, with a special focus on Georgian Period furniture and hand-stitched quilts. Tennyson Antiques from Atlanta specialized in 200-year-old dishes.
Southern Classic Jewelry, a regular presence at the market, showcased a stunning Victorian-era cameo piece with a 14K gold bezel. This September market marked the 27th year of Scott Antique Markets, attracting both dealers and buyers looking to add to their collections or redecorate their homes.
For those planning ahead, the Scott Antique Markets in Columbus, Ohio, are set to begin in November and continue monthly through March. The Atlanta market takes place on the second weekend of each month, offering a wide range of antiques and collectibles for enthusiasts and decorators alike.
