United Flea Markets, which also owns 11 other swap meets nationwide, was drawn to Tanque Verde’s unique offering of both daytime and evening hours, a feature not common among its other properties.
Robert Sieban, the CEO of United Flea Markets, expressed excitement about incorporating Tanque Verde into their portfolio, highlighting the vibrant atmosphere of the night market. The swap meet, established by the Chapins 40 years ago, holds a special place in the new owner’s vision for the future.
As part of their acquisition, United Flea Markets plans a series of upgrades and renovations at Tanque Verde. These enhancements will include a robust technology platform to enhance the overall buying and selling experience, along with amenities like WiFi for sellers to manage their inventory and transactions efficiently while on-site.
Additionally, cosmetic improvements such as painting, cleaning, and landscaping will be undertaken to enhance the market’s appeal. Sieban emphasized the company’s commitment to preserving the legacy of Tanque Verde while striving to make it more attractive and functional for both vendors and visitors.
Despite the changes, United Flea Markets is dedicated to retaining the existing local staff, valuing their expertise and ensuring continuity in operations. Sieban stressed the importance of learning from the team members in Tucson, as the company ventures into a new market and seeks to leverage their knowledge and experience.
Located at 4100 South Palo Verde, the Tanque Verde Swap Meet operates on Fridays from 3 pm to 11 pm, Saturdays from 7 am to 11 pm, and Sundays from 7 am to 3 pm. Admission and parking are complimentary, inviting locals and tourists alike to explore the diverse offerings at this iconic swap meet.
