Ellis, known for her floral designs at prestigious events, took on the challenge of renovating the medieval building with her husband and children after selling her business.
The idea of sharing the land and the renovation project emerged when Ellis's friends in Puglia offered a portion of their land for sale. The family, already connected to Italy through past experiences, embarked on a four-year journey to create Masseria Kalliope, a serene stone retreat nestled in olive groves.
