The Pawtucket Arts Festival offers a vibrant mix of art, food, and music for attendees to enjoy. Joe Giocastro, the festival chairman, expresses his excitement for this year’s event, highlighting the range of activities that showcase Pawtucket’s arts scene. With over 30 events, including concerts, art exhibits, studio tours, and theater performances, the festival aims to cater to a wide audience of art enthusiasts.

The Blackstone River Party and Taste of the Valley kick off the festival with sweet and savory dishes prepared by top chefs and craft breweries offering their best brews. The evening culminates in a dance performance by Ruben Moreno and the Zydeco Re-evolution, promising a lively start to the festival.

One of the festival’s main attractions is the dragon boat races, where crews from across the Northeast compete for prizes and recognition. Bob Billington, the executive director of the Blackstone Valley Tourism Council, emphasizes the event’s popularity and family-friendly atmosphere, making it a must-see spectacle.

The SAM Festival, a new addition this year, celebrates Pawtucket’s creative legacy. With local artists and antique dealers showcasing their works at Slater Mill, the festival pays homage to the city’s industrial and artistic heritage. The “Steampunk Soiree” concert adds a contemporary twist to the festival, blending historical and modern design elements.

Another new feature, Louisiana Night, brings a taste of New Orleans to Pawtucket with a light show and performances by renowned musicians, promising an evening of zydeco, disco, and soul music. The festival continues with the Slater Park Fall Festival, featuring performances, a classic car cruise, and the annual “Pops in the Park” concert by the Rhode Island Philharmonic.

The Pawtucket Film Festival, now in its 15th year, showcases a mix of short films, animations, and feature-length works, with a focus on local filmmakers. Attendees can enjoy screenings, Q&A sessions with filmmakers, and opening night festivities at the Blackstone Valley Visitors Center.
